From the palm tree to the barcode: memories of the faculty

Under the title "From the palm tree to the barcode: memories of the faculty", a series of round tables will be held between the months of February and April 2022 with the aim of discussing and reflecting on the history of the Faculty of Arts.

Participating in these roundtables will be teaching staff and administrative and service staff who have worked at the Faculty at different times over its history. Each roundtable will bring together people from different departments and related studies and will take the form of a conversation. The meetings will offer a chance to look back at some of the highlights, tell anecdotes and reflect on the principal changes seen in the faculty's 50 years.

The first of these talks will take place on 24 February and will focus on the departments teaching languages and literature. The panel will include Esther Forgas, Elizabeth Russell, Emili Samper, Carme Torres and Carme Martínez and will be moderated by Joana Zaragoza, dean of the Faculty of Arts between 1997 and 2001.

The second panel will be devoted to the study of History, Art History and Archaeology. The meeting, scheduled for Tuesday 15 March at 12.00 in the Sala de Graus, will be moderated by Montserrat Duch, Professor of Contemporary History, and will include the participation of Enric Olivé, Santi Roquer, Marta Serrano, Jordi Diloli and Núria Gavarró.

The third panel will deal with the study of anthropology and is scheduled for Thursday 24 March at 12.00 in the Sala de Juntes. It will be moderated by Josep M. Comelles, distinguished and emeritus professor of the URV since 2015, with the participation of Juanjo Pujadas, Jordi Roca, Maria Ramon Cubells, Montserrat Soronellas, Núria Martorell, Pedro Marta and Òscar Guasch.

The fourth and last round table of the Faculty of Arts will take place on Thursday 21 April at 12 noon and will be dedicated to Communication Studies. The panel will be moderated by Bernat López (lecturer in the department) and the other members will be Marc Càmara, Jan Gonzalo, Sunsi Huertas, Isidre Monreal, Marta Montagut and Laia Quílez. The event will be held in the Sala de Graus on the Catalunya Campus.
